"Trust me". Sometimes those words are a bit scary.
This was my first tour with Adventures with Sarah. I have been following for several years. . There were many things I had not seen in Rome, but no idea what those things were. Trusting Sarah made a tour into a true adventure.
The drive out to the Etruscan tombs, or walk to Livia rooms on Palatine Hill were entirely unexpected. Eating through food markets and old slaughter house. Yum We could be found popping into different smaller churches, or checking out side streets, giving the city a new depth for me. Did you remember to buy your Patettone?
Sarah is not only remarkably knowledgable, she knows people who are experts in parts that she wants to know more about as well. Teaching and learning, the sign of a good leader. Agnes, what a delight.
“Let’s go see the Pope!” “IF we get up early we can be in the Vatican, alone." “This is over where Julius Caesar was murdered." “Is that elephant's rear exposed to the place where the worst of the inquisitions was preformed?” “Oh, that is new, maybe 17th century.” “How about an exquisite meal in the middle of the old pottery dump?”
There were hard core guided parts, amazing food parts, “come if you want” parts and the ultimate “here are a few great places to eat or see. Have fun” parts.. I walked between 18-36,,000 steps daily, but one could have caught cabs and done much less walking. I was, genuinely, nervous about the crowds Rome has seen this year, we experienced few of them.
Small group concept worked well since singles, couples and families joined each other during free time to explore museums, eat in the Jewish ghetto or just get lost (you are never really lost). Hotel was excellent. Breakfast was good. Laundry was easy. Staff—oh the staff- they were above the mark.
This tour would have suited my 18 year old grandson as well as my 40ish son in law. That is saying a whole lot! With Sarah, there were times to just absorb it all or take in a ton of information. Your choice.
Remarkable.
Now, to talk my brother and sister in law’s family into Egypt!
An authentic Turkey vacation experience. The food was excellent and plentiful. Our tour leader, captain and crew were kind, friendly and accommodating. The views were spectacular, the waters clear and had opportunities to swim every day. Trips onshore allowed us to see ancient Roman ruins and small coastal towns. Also lots of time for relaxing, reading, sunning, fishing, playing backgammon and chatting with great group of fellow travelers. Some unfortunate problems with the boat that were promptly addressed is the only reason not to give 5 stars. Taylan our tour leader was 5 stars in all aspects: arranging outings, teaching us about the history and current day culture of the areas, and going above to make this a smooth and fun trip. GREAT FOOD!

This was a great introduction to the Piemonte area of Italy. Lisa was the consummate guide – friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and all-around fun. In this tour she has curated a wide variety of experiences, showing us the area that she lives in and loves. She was attentive to the various needs of participants, and helpful when needed. As a single traveler, I never felt excluded from group activities. The food was great, the sights inspiring. This is a tour I have highly recommended to friends and family already
This tour was a unique experience, time traveling in Maramureş, seeing centuries-old painted churches and monasteries and visiting locals in their homes to learn about their culture and traditions. Breb, a tiny village where we stayed in restored cottages and met the photographer who has been chronicling. the last 50 years of village life, is one example of the “back roads” nature of this delightful tour. George, our native Romanian guide, was everyone’s son and passionately explained many things about post-Communist Romania. I give this tour a 5-star review. Congenial tourmates, skilled driver, comfortable hotels and delicious food make this a tour not to be missed.
Although I’ve been to Italy a number of times, this is my first trip to this region. I booked the trip based recommendations from others who had been on this tour with Lisa. Everyone raved about her and the tour so I had high expectations. They were certainly met. The tour was fabulous. Standouts were the meals Lisa arranged as well as the sightseeing trips - very unique experiences. Lisa is a warm, caring person and one can tell she really enjoys guiding this tour. I would not hesitate to book any tour she would be leading.
